What people say about Backstop Bar & Grill…

Love the Backstop! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. One of the best places to grab a drink or a bite in Canby!

Great food with lots of options for kids. My kids are picky but they get the orders right every time. Staff is always friendly and positive!

Have been going there for years. Best food and friendly staff. They know my entire family by name, grandkids to grandparents. Fast service. My 6-year-old daughter calls it “the place where the waitresses all love me” because they are always so nice to her.

My wife and I love this place. We live in Woodburn and often make the drive to Canby just to see Ken and the rest of his great staff.

Backstop Bar and Grill, had a wide variety of beers and the food was extremely delicious! Next time, I take a trip to Canby I’ll be stopping by the Backstop.

My family and I come here all the time and there are so many reasons why! Great food, drinks and staff. The food and drink menus are very expansive and I’ve never ordered a bad item. Highly recommend the brisket wrap, the clam chowder and the “manjito.”

I love this place. The service is exceptional, the atmosphere is great, and you can tell how fantastic the business is by how happy the staff is to work there. I am always treated like my business matters to them and I’m always happy with my experience.

One of my favorite places to eat in Canby. The owner and the staff are absolutely fabulous. The menu is the best in town and everything I have had there thus far has been superb! Highly recommended.

Wonderful family owned and family friendly business. We always have a good experience here.

We come here on the weekends for breakfast often and watch football. The owner is hands on behind the bar and always has a smile on his face. Clearly he is in his element! The Bloody Mary’s are fantastic and the recipe is a family secret. Yummy breakfasts!

Stopped one evening for dinner with the family. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated immediately. Two of us ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich. I ordered a Margarita. Service was quick. The sandwich came with a nice dipping sauce. It was nothing like the Monte Cristos in Disneyland, but not a bad sandwich. The Margarita was just ok. It was a very pleasant dining experience. We look forward to our next visit.

Great pub grub, generous portions and the desserts are delish! Wait staff are super nice. Love their breakfasts, too!

Stopped in after the fabulous Swan Island Dahlia festival for lunch. Wait staff was efficient and very cordial; the food was delicious; all the hamburgers and pork sliders were yummy. Great ambience and fantastic grounds for talking and visiting with friends which we did. No rush at all. Would go back in a heartbeat as the menu was deep and wide for good eating. Hats off to this place…oh, the craft beer selection was excellent too.

We decided to try this place based on a TripAdvisor review and were not disappointed. We ate in the bar (by accident) and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The Backstop offers restaurant seating as well as dining in the bar. It was our first visit and were not sure what to order. They had a lot of interesting options on the menu(s) and we had a few questions. Our server Crystal did a great job of answering our questions and even checked with the Chef when she wasn’t sure. I ordered a seasonal salad that was very good. My husband had their chicken fried steak and said it was the best he’d ever eaten. Overall, an excellent first impression. We want to try other offerings on their menu and will go back. BTW, they have a very good Happy Hour menu that I think runs from 3-6pm.

The Backstop is the kind of place one hopes to find when visiting an unfamiliar area. The decor is very nice and the service friendly and efficient. We stopped here for breakfast with our daughter and son-in-law. Three of us ordered The All-American. Two with link sausage, eggs over medium, and hash browns; and one with andouille sausage, eggs over medium, and pancakes. The eggs were perfectly prepared. The three link sausages were large, not too spicy and not the typical brown and serve that so many restaurants serve. The has browns were a bit dry and the only negative of the meal. Our son-in-law said the pancakes were 5-star. The other dish ordered was the Country Benedict with country potatoes, which are much better than the hash browns. If you’re really hungry, this is the perfect choice. This will be our go-to place when we’re in the area.

We were starving after a few hours of exploring the Canby area and pulled up here. I was immediately struck by how clean and upscale it looked for a bar. Great menu and a variety of beverages on tap. We especially enjoyed the raspberry peach cider from Bauman Farms. My tuna melt was fantastic – not greasy or too heavy. We enjoyed watching NCAA softball while we ate. Fun place!!

This place feels more like the first floor of Buckingham palace, with 24 foot high ceilings. Seating is open, and spacious. They have a rather large menu, and everything I’ve tried is very good. No complaints.
